Workshops Lindy Hop is the main area of teaching, and these workshops will be offered at 4 levels: Beginner/Improver, Intermediate, Intermediate-Advanced, ‘Blooming Flashy’. These workshops will cover all aspects of Lindy Hop, including figures for social dancing, interpretation of music, lead and follow technique, and at the higher levels we'll work towards a cabaret performance at the end of the week. Please note that the beginner level of workshops will be aimed more at improvers who have 6 months of regular Lindy under their belts. So if you are a beginner, we suggest you get along to regular weekly classes if at all possible and prepare yourself for this. Teachers for 2009 La Santa Swing will appear on www.lasantaswing.com soon
Accommodation Self Catering, sharing nice clean, basic apartments, with single beds. Apartments vary in size. Most people will share twin bed rooms; some will sleep on single beds in the sitting room. Who sleeps where is decided with water pistols. A few apartments may be booked without anyone in the sitting room – ring me for extra cost. Chillout by the Sea Why not stay with us for an extra week, recovering, getting to know the Island or surfing on Famara beach, just a few miles away, along the gorgeous, quiet northern coast of Lanzarote, Social Dancing We usually have social dancing on 3 nights of the week. This generally takes place in the night club of the resort where the music doesn't disturb other residents. Around 1am the music will drift away from swing towards more modern stuff to accomodate the "normal" people entering the venue. An afternoon barbecue in the beach area offers another opportunity for social dancing as the sun goes down. This is a very laid back affair with a great party spirit and dancing like you've never seen it before. Everyone brings down drinks and nibbles, shares them with everyone and just chills in the most amazing atmosphere - you'll love it. And yes - silly games do break out at times - just have a look on this site at the photos from last year's holiday. Not just dancing But there's more to "LaSanta Swing" thank dancing. We purposely leave a couple of nights completely free of dancing to encourage you to make the most of being on holiday at La Santa. You could choose to enjoy some of the other entertainment laid on each night by the resort, or take your time eating with and getting to know the other dancers. Invariably parties break out in the larger apartments and everybody is invited, so nobody feels left out. (The sports fanatics amongst you will probably squeeze in another game of squash or something equally relaxing before ending up at one of these gatherings). One evening we encourage everyone to invite others to their apartments for dinner, just to prove what a sociable lot you are. On the last evening the resort holds a cabaret and invites all the visitors to perform, so this is a perfect opportunity for dancers to shine and show the whole of La Santa what we can do. La Santa Resort This
is the world’s leading sports and leisure resort. It is situated on the
Northern coast of Lanzorote, away from the tourism. It has a beautiful
lagoon with almost constant winds, perfect for windsurfing. The people who
go vary from sports loving families to athletes training for the Olympics.
There are two swimming pools, one Olympic standard, the other for leisure,
tennis courts, squash courts, indoor sports hall, athletic stadium, cycle
center, windsurf station, gym and fitness center, golf driving range,
children’s playground, conference rooms, 6 different restaurants / cafes
and several shops. There is also a diving school, but this is the one
sport where the tuition cost is extra. For more info on Club La Santa’s
facilities, current temperatures and sports timetables, visit their
website at www.clublasanta.co.uk. |
